Dined here while I was visiting Maderia Beach. I was a little skeptical at first because of the low reviews but I am glad we gave it a try. The food is fresh and very flavorful and this is coming from someone who is very picky about their Thai food. We all loved the food and dining experience so much that we dined here two times during our trip. Prices are very reasonable and portion sizes are large. Vegetarian and Vegan friendly just as for the vegetarian menu.

Very delicious! Love the spring rolls and massaman curry. Great and fast service. All servers are very kind! I love coming here and enjoying the cute outdoor seating area. This place has a nice vibe. I definitely recommend coming here :)

All I could think about at work today was what I was going to cook for dinner for myself. I wanted something new and have heard great things about this place! They have a very extensive menu with descriptions which was great so much to choose from! I placed an order for delivery (so stoked they deliver) to my little beach bungalow in N. Madeira. 30 minutes later I was greeted by the sweetest looking Thai woman I have ever seen, who pulled my steaming hot food food out of her mini van then out of the pack which kept the food hot. For starters, the Thai Iced Tea here is amazing! So smooth and refreshing and not too sweet. I started out with the House Ginger Salad. Very crisp and fresh, the dressing was a little thicker than what Im used to but it is perfect and not too over-whelming. I ordered the BJ Tempura Roll (salmon, cream cheese, asparagus, and scallions) absolutely delish and beautifully put together as well. For my main course I ordered the Pork & Broccoli. The sauce was a little watery I think but it had great flavor and the pork was cooked perfectly. Altogether, it was an excellent meal. Very friendly lady, who took extra time to package the meal neatly with all utensils which was greatly appreciated and didnt go unnoticed. The food was outstanding, after a long day to have a meal this fresh delivered beautifully to your door is the best thing a beach bum could want! Cant wait to try it again!

Food was delicious and I'm a total food snob. The service was fast, and friendly. Also prices were amazing. I'm from fortlauderdale by the beach and we payed double for the amount of food we normally get at the same quality! Will be back and would recommend to anyone looking for a great sushi and Thai place!

Was in St Pete for work and I'm always craving good Thai....and I found it here. Very reasonable prices for the area. I had the Chicken on Fire--excellent, unique dish. Overall one of my best dinners down here. When I was there--the place was packed and I still have great, fast service. Will be back on my next trip down here.

We had take out for lunch and decided to come back for $1 sushi & $4 rolls for dinner. Both meals excellent. Lunch was Basil Chicken, Pad Thai & Cashew Chicken, all fantastic! Dinner, sushi was fresh well prepared, delicious and prompt. Kiddo had egg noddles (special request) instead of eating off kids menu, they accommodated or needs wonderfully. The service was perfect. Our dinner was $50.00 with tip and we are stuffed!! Book marked this place for future visits!!

Good food with lots of flavor. Portion size was generous and reasonably priced, especially the combination dishes. Our server was nice and attentive. Will be back!

If anyone decides to go here because of the "$1 sushi roll" special on Wednesday and Thursday, don't be fooled. It's actually $4 a roll (which isn't a bad price) but I would have liked to know this beforehand. Sushi was okay, nothing amazing but good enough for only $4 (for 8 pieces). On the other hand, the fried rice was very good, I would definitely reccomend it. Service was okay. Overall, if you're on TI or JP and are craving thai or Asian cuisine i would reccomend it; if not, you won't be missing out.

We only get to Florida every couple of years, and we always go here for lunch while we're at the beach. $1 Sushi on Wed and Thurs is a great deal, and the service has always been quick and friendly.

Went for sushi around lunch hour so the joint was fairly empty. Service was pretty slow for how not busy they were. Could've just been the waitress we had who knows. However the sushi was exceptional and you could tell it was quite fresh. The sushi runs about $4-5 for 8 pieces so keep that in mind. Sushi was great and service was kinda slow.

I will start with the good, The sushi was very good; not great Very good. The delivery time was super fast the appetizer for 2 was good, average pu-pu platter stuff. They sort of go bad on the stuff that is a staple in American style chinese food, what they should be the best at! I got combo fried rice, I make this at home better, way better, low quality rice that was over cooked, and not fried you can taste the dragons breath when something is cooked super hot in a Wok, they had tons of meat and veg in it but it was just over cooked rice and soy with the meat and veg. I also asked for lomein, as I did not see it on their menu the lady told me yes so I got a small order, combo again. Tons of meat and nicely chopped veggies; however they used a pack of cheap ramen noodles for the noodles and again over cooked and not fried in a Wok. I am being generous because the good is far out weighed by the bad. maybe I just ordered the wrong thing!

This place couldn't be more perfect!! Every time we visit The Beach Place Condo we order our food Togo and feast in our condo. However, we should dine in sometime, the atmosphere is beautiful. Excellent family locally owned business. The duck was amazing, curry dishes, and the sushi was a treat. Can't wait to visit again.

This is by far one of the best Thai Restaurants I have ever been to. If you are trying to decide where to go you need to look no further. Every time I have eaten at this restaurant they are far above my expectations with the entrees. The fresh basil and vegetables taste so amazing I would think they have a garden in the back yard. Hands down they receive five stars.

I would eat here ALL THE TIME if I lived/worked in Madeira Beach. Fresh, flavorful, fast, friendly ... really legit. Fresh (spring) roll w/ shrimp, 5 stars. Exactly what I was hoping for ... big size, slightly chewy rice paper, fresh ingredients, great dipping sauce. Chicken spicy bamboo shoots ($7.95 lunch special), 5 stars. HUGE portion and I am an eating fool. Meat, veggies and rice cooked perfectly, sauce fantastic. Came with small fried spring roll and fried wonton, which were both 5 star awesome. The included soup wasn't my favorite (2.5 stars) but that was easy to overlook when everything else was so damn fine. Come here hungry + lunch special = stomach happy.

My wife and I frequent Thai-Am 2. Great food and good service. The outdoor seating is great for people watching and getting some fresh air. There is extra parking and behind the building along with rear access. My favorite is the sushi and there is also great vegetarian options.

We live right down the road from Thai Am.. We visit there often. Getting everything from sushi to appetizers, to curry.. We have NEVER had anything bad.. My partner is a chef at a 5 star restaurant in Tampa so she can be hard to please at times..but she/we've never been disappointed here.. We have had only 1 visit where the waitress was completely rude. It was not busy at the time and we wrote it off as her having a bad day or just a bad personality.. It hasn't deferred us from enjoying the food.. We highly recommend Thai Am!!

  • Nancy E.

Awful!!! The waitress and bus person knew nothing about the menu. A bunch of family members gathered at a table just sitting there. I had pad thai, it was tasteless and noodles weren't cooked all the way. My friend had the grilled shrimp with special sauce. Nothing special about a can of super sweet sticky red stuff cheap chinese restaurants use. Horrible... save your $$ there are plenty of other places to eat. Even McDonalds would have been better.

I don't get why the reviews are so horrible. My coworkers come here ALL the time and everything has always been good. I've been here once on a Friday for dinner and the service was very prompt even though there were quite a lot of people there. The staff was friendly. The inside is really really nice and you can sit outside too. There's a lot on the menu to choose from.. Thai/Japanese/Sushi. You can't beat the early bird dinner special either. Prices are very reasonable. I can't say it's the best thai food I've ever had, but it hit the spot and I would definitely go back.

Ok. I was recommended to try this Thai establishment from my hotel. NEVER will I do that again! FOOD: Probably the worst Thai Food I have ever had. I had the Panang Curry, which was tasteless. It was so bland that I was wondering if they forgot the curry and added food coloring to water. There was no taste of coconut milk either. To make it even worse my wife ordered the Pad Thai. This was inedible. I have never had some horrible Pad Thai in my life. I can not even write anything else because I want to keep this short and sweet and I pray that those who read this review will stay away and the owners will really look at how they make Thai food.

I eat here for lunch when I'm in the mood for something different. Love the chicken pad thai and little wonton thing that comes with the lunch special. The spring roll is ok, but I'm not a fan of the soup (the missing star). Service is good. Looking forward to trying the sushi next visit!

Bad food, bad service. Ordered padthai that tasted like the only ingredient was fish sauce and fried rice that tasted like the cook had forgotten to season it. On a positive note the beer was cold. What was worse than the food was the service, our waitress seemed annoyed at our every request. When one of our kids spilled some water the lady actually stood glaring at us for a moment before moving to get something help clean it up with. Maybe we just got unlucky with our server or she was having a bad day, the other staff seemed friendly and attentive. Still I won't be giving this place a second try.

Never going back here. The prices compared to the service are drastically wrong. Our server was horrible and apparently also the sushi chef. So it took nearly an hour until out food came after we ordered it. My boyfriend and I ordered an appetizer to eat before our friends joined us. 25 minutes after we ordered it, we cancelled it since they had already joined us 15 minutes prior. Our meal was less than satisfying and by far no where close to the best sushi I've had. For horrid service and lame food, go here. For good service and good food, try Hook's.

My response to those who gave negative reviews is go back to your state please. You're here on vacation and therefore you expect everything to be like it is in a Sandals Resort commercial. You complain about prices of everything (it's the beach, morons), you clog up our beaches with your pale skin and ill-fitted swimwear (you're 50...and gross...put a shirt on), you think it's is cool to go everywhere in your sand covered "I Love Florida" flipflops, and you drive as slow as you can in the right lane and screw everyone behind you trying to go to work, or go home. Guess what we aren't all on vacation like you are you dummy. Now, to review the restaurant!!! I love Thai food, and I think Thai-am II is a great place. I am a local here, live in Pinellas all my life (born and raised.) Yes, staffing can sometimes be a little stressed, but it's on the beach, and I know from my 8+ years of bartending on the beach that sometimes it's busy, and a LOT of times it's SLOW!!! Their sushi is good, never tasted old or rotten. My favorite dish is the Basil Leaf Noodle, so good! They have $1 sushi on Wed and Thurs., and I've never been disappointed with their take-out! I would give them a go for sure, and I've been going there for YEARS. Sure things happen, food gets made wrong or something is not what you expected. It's the hospitality business...SH*T HAPPENS. As far as cleanliness, their facility never got shut down for nasty health violations or rat problems (which are HUGE on the beach.) I like it there, and I'll continue to go!

I have mixed feelings about the food, it was a little bland for Thai perhaps because I did not wanted it spicy. We arrived early so the restaurant was empty. I ordered chicken basil which comes w/white rice, it was hot and a good size portion. Unfortunately the first thing I did was add salt which I hardly ever do specially with this type of food. Overall the food was good, the service was great but I would not think of this place as the best Thai I ever had.

Really don't understand the bad reviews on here--rivaling businesses?? My husband and I went there to eat the other day and it was so good that we just ordered in from the same place today. When we ate in we ate from the Japanese menu--tempura vegetables and shrimp and some sushi. Both were delicious. Not extraordinary, but definitely fresh and very yummy. Decent prices as well. Today we ordered pad thai, which was also delicious. Nicely flavored, very generous portions and again at very decent prices. Quick delivery and the food arrived piping hot. Definitely recommending this place!

Pretty good! My other half really enjoys thai and he was a fan. I'm not that into it but I did get the pad thai one time and it was pretty good. The last time we went here I got the sushi and was a little concerned after reading fellow yelpers' critiques but it was actually pretty good. I believe we went on a Monday and they had a $4 roll special. Not too shabby! The sushi did take a while to come out but I didn't really mind. I'd rather it take longer and be better than quicker and sloppy. As far as the service goes, I wasn't really bothered by the lack of enthusiasm. No big deal. The location rocks too, start here and work your way down Johns Pass. Win!

While visiting the area from out of town, my boyfriend and I drove by this place and decided to give it a try for lunch. Big mistake. I ordered the cashew chicken, which I have gotten and enjoyed from at least half a dozen Thai restaurants in the past. At Thai-Am 2, however, the cashew chicken consisted of huge, nasty globs of low quality chicken in a thick, bland brown sauce that seemed more like something you'd get at a cheap fast food Chinese takeout restaurant than a Thai restaurant. What really astonishes me is that this item was listed in the Thai portion of the menu despite its obvious Chinese influence. I mean, the cashew chicken had a bunch of celery and water chestnuts in it--need I say more? Moreover, I am thoroughly convinced that the soup that came with the meal was the super-salty canned chicken noodle soup that you get at the grocery store with a few peas thrown in for good measure. No thanks! The only plus about this place food-wise is their basil rolls, which they call "fresh rolls." Our server was also nice enough to comp my meal, which I realized was inedible after two bites. If you like overpriced, low quality Chinese food, give this so-called "Thai" place a try. Otherwise, stay far, far away!

Worst Thai food. Server horrible. More interested in watching television than doing her job. Food was bland spring rolls tasted like they were made a year ago. Avoid this place.

It is difficult to be critical of Thai-Am 2. The food is generally tasty. There are tons of vegetarian options (which is quite rare for the area, and merits 3 stars in and of itself). The location (next to, but not quite part of the John's Pass area) is great, and the outdoor seating section is nice. However, it is also difficult to be enthusiastic about the restaurant. The prices are a bit high. The portions are a bit small. The quality of the food could be much better (it tends to lack freshness). Thai-Am 2 is definitely worth visiting if you are Veg*n, as it will give you a number of options, and a quality of dishes, that are unmatched in the area. Otherwise, it is just ok.

Fast and fabulous takeout. The massaman curry I ate for dinner tonight was big enough for two. I'm eager to come back and try the $1 sushi on Wednesdays and Thursday.

I went on an impulse to go to the beach on the weekday and stumbled upon Thai-Am 2. The name was interesting. The place is pretty decent size and the atmosphere is really casual. At a beach area you'll find some interesting characters that walk around. The food was pretty good. I ordered their Thai tea. Instead of Thai food, I tried their sushi and Japanese bento boxes. My Dragon roll was pretty good, but not exciting, and the Chicken Teriyaki was good too. As for the prices, it is a little more than I would pay in another Japanese restaurant in Tampa. But I guess anywhere near the beach the places are a little pricier than most. It's too bad we didn't have a beach view. Overall, it is a nice place, but I'd probably only go again if I am ever at the beach. Also, their parking lot is very small, so be wary in finding space. It's not too bad to walk to though.

NO idea on allergens at all. I tried to go through it all with them but still unsure about safety of the food (did not know what gluten was). Food was very mediocre.

I go to Thai am 2 almost every week either to dine in or take out. I enjoy the lunch bento box with tempura shrimp and teriyaki chicken. Always good and great value. My favorite is emerald green curry tofu, can't get enough of it.

This place has great sushi & amazing appetizers. The nam sod is the best ever! Typical fare is just ok. Stick w/ the sushi. The Thai iced tea is also really good and they give a good amount. Ask for the lollipop roll

This is the best Thai Food around! I have visited many in the area and this one is the best. I am a frequent visitor there. I really like there sushi and chicken pad Thai. You won't be disappointed in the portions either.

  • Scott S.

Been here many, many times over the years. Always great sushi. Tried the pad Thai once, not my favorite. Start with the Thai green salad with peanut dressing. The fried tempura job roll is unique to this place and very good. Service can be hit or miss but usually no problem. Wife said to mention the shrimp tamarind.

It was okay. I've had better. The staff is meh. My daughter and I went here on a girls weekend, she loves THai food and I was sad that this was the place I took her. 5 more minutes down the road and she would have been delighted. The food and too much filler stuff, that to me says the restaurant is struggling financially and are serving less for a high cost. Save your $$ and go somewhere else.

My husband and I eat here each week. We enjoy the sushi, pad Thai and shrimp salad. The food is of high quality and is a nice beach resturant for date night.

Service was fast and friendly. Ambience is nice. Parking is easy. My husband and I both ordered chicken pad Thai. We both found the dish to be tasteless and dry. We added salt and lime but it didn't help. I wish I trusted this restaurant enough to go back and try something else but it was just so disappointing.
